Constança Entrudo VS Trimalhas

At Palco we are admirers of the work of Constança Entrudo. About 4 years ago we were leafing through Vogue Portugal when we read an interview about the designer and I thought to myself: “One day I’m going to work with Constança!” So it happened.

We have already talked here (link to the Trimalhas project) a little about the construction and positioning of Trimalhas in the national and international market.
We launched the challenge of associating the Trimalhas product to national creators and a collaboration with Constança Entrudo, made perfect sense.
Constança Entrudo e Trimalhas lab is the symbiosis of the best of both worlds: art and industry, regeneration and inspiration.

Constança Entrudo vs Trimalhas LAB was at LONDON FASHION WEEK with the support of Visit Madeira and YOUTUBE, which broadcast the fashion show live on the digital platform.

About the Designer:
@constanca_entrudo was born in Lisbon. She lived in London for six years, where she graduated in Textile Design from the prestigious Central Saint Martins, and worked for Marques’Almeida and Peter Pilotto.
In 2017, she becomes a designer for Balmain, under the creative direction of Oliver Rousteing, in Paris, and launches her brand at @lisboafashionweek, where she presents her first collection in her own name in the summer of 2018.
Her creativity doesn’t allow itself to be shaped by rules, by pre-defined structures or by a single aesthetic perspective or language, as she does’t want to exclude new possibilities for discovery, experimentation and collaboration with other designers or artists. Therefore, her collections cannot be limited by gender or age – they are always for the freedom to imagine, to materialize and to dress. ✨

This collaboration came about with the objective of creating a creative, sustainable and timeless collection, through the use of @trimalhas.knits raw material and dead stock.

“This video by @mariagdgsousa, with photography by @nommommvieira, entitled The Garden of Forking Paths (or, the garden of bifurcation paths, like the short story by Argentine Jorge Luis Borges published in 1941), was produced with the support of Turismo da Madeira and @trimalhas.knits, it highlights the misty coast of the Madeira archipelago, where the designer travels by land or sea, seeking inspiration.

Constança Entrudo enters in ta visual journey, with both black volcanic sands and white ones, that the beaches of these islands in the middle of the Atlantic offer.

Between the dense air calling for a thunderstorm and the light of freedom, this work explores sound, space and materiality, celebrated in looks that choose new materials and almost fragmented patterns, fabrics that merge with ceramic buttons, created in collaboration with Vasco Futscher, reminiscent of seafood textures such as limpets.

We are guided by the wandering of the models that accompany the salty water shuttle, screams of sea birds, castanholar of shellfish, shells and pocket knives, as the note of evasion and hope in a new era.”

For SS21, @constanca_entrudo x Trimalhas invites you to a maze – like presentation exploring the relationship between space, sound and materiality.

The result is a deeply personal collection, in which compelling surfaces give way to simple silhouettes. Focusing on iconic pieces, Constança allows herself to experiment with innovative materials and ceramic sculptures. Melted labyrinths printed onto our knits, cocktail inspired gradients and unfinished hand woven fabrics interact with ceramic buttons in an illusional and subversive way. ✨
